Indianapolis Colts 53-man roster feels like one that can compete in the AFC South

The division belongs to Houston, but they're about to have a big problem with the Colts.

Linebacker (5)                                                                                                                              

  • Starters: EJ Speed, Zaire Franklin, Grant Stuard
  • Reserves: Segun Olubi, Jaylon Carlies

No surprise here as this group has been set since the offseason camp, at least on the starting front. Zaire Franklin and EJ Speed return with high expectations. Grant Stuard will handle starting linebacker duties along with his role on special teams. Look for Jaylon Carlies to carve out a role by mid-season during his rookie season.

Cornerback (5)

  • Starters: JuJu Brents, Kenny Moore, Jaylon Jones
  • Reserves: Dallis Flowers, Darrell Baker Jr.

Some surprise here as the franchise only keet five corners on the final roster. The other surprise was releasing rookies Jaylin Simpson and Micah Abraham. This means the final three picks of the 2024 NFL Draft have been cut by the franchise this offseason. Outside of Kenny Moore II, this unit is young and still in need of experience. Dallis Flowers did not have a great preseason showing, but Darrell Baker Jr showed some improvement from last season’s struggles.

Getting both rookies back on the practice squad will be beneficial to support the development and depth needed during the season.
