Colts could trade for Vikings WR Justin Jefferson

Colts Receive: Justin Jefferson
Vikings Receive: WR Alec Pierce, 2024 1st Round Pick, 2024 3rd Round Pick, 2025 3rd Round Pick

I know this probably won’t happen but hear me out on this. The Minnesota Vikings have their quarterback on the final year of his deal and will most likely be drafting high in next April’s draft. That pick will likely be a QB, as they have underwhelmed this year and may look to get into a mini-rebuild for next season. Justin Jefferson is, without question, the best at his position and will want to be paid as such. He is also likely going to miss most (or all) of this season with his hamstring injury on a contract year. Could he just sit out the rest of the year to get him healthy for 2024 with the Vikings unlikely to make a playoff run?

Imagine a potential core of Anthony Richardson, Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs and Justin Jefferson heading into the 2024 season. While giving up a first-round pick in 2024 is not ideal, would the receiver (or prospect) they might look at for that pick be better than Jefferson? The answer is a profound no because the Colts will most likely be selecting towards the middle of the first round.

This could be lethal for the Colts and allows the Vikings to get some assets back in return. The contract would be monumental but it’s Justin Jefferson, you find a way to make it work.
