Colts could trade for Broncos DB Patrick Surtain II

Colts Receive: Patrick Surtain II
Broncos Receive: Colts 2024 2nd Round Pick, Colts 2025 2nd Round Pick

A big name here for Ballard to make a call for. Even with the emergence of rookie JuJu Brents, Patrick Surtain II would be a welcome addition to this locker room. A true CB1 and lockdown corner that is just at the beginning of the prime of his career at age 23. At 6-foot-2, he has the size that the Colts’ front office loves at the position. Most importantly he brings more depth to the position.

Ballard has always said he loses sleep every week thinking about depth and how to improve it. This allows some of the rookies like Brents and Jaylon Jones to really learn from a top tier corner, and that would improve their development. Even at 23, Surtain is an All-Pro and can help mold this very young secondary core.

His contract runs through 2024, with an option for 2025. So, the franchise would not have to put up a huge amount of capital on him until the 2026 season when the Colts would have a little more knowledge on the path that they are going to go down by then.
