An early breakdown of Colts opponents for the 2024 NFL season

While the 2024 NFL schedule isn’t set, every team knows which opponents they will face. Let’s take a look at the 2024 opponents for the Indianapolis Colts.

With the 2023 regular season officially finished, every NFL team knows who they are going to play during the 2024 season. Of course, the order isn’t known; the NFL will announce that during the summer in a much more grand fashion. While everyone awaits that, we can look into the opponents, regardless of where they’ll be on the schedule.

Along with other teams, the Indianapolis Colts announced their 2024 opponents on Sunday. In 2024, Indy will of course play the other three AFC South teams twice each, and will also play each AFC East team, each NFC North team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New York Giants, and the Denver Broncos. Additionally, after having nine home games this season, Indy will play nine road games and eight home games next season.

Colts 2024 opponents

Based on 2023 records, Indy’s opponents give them the 12th-easiest strength of schedule, with their 14 opponents having a combined winning percentage of .491. Of the 14 opponents, seven will be coming off a season with a winning record, and two of those seven are the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars, Indy’s division rivals. Six of those teams are currently in the playoffs.

Something that may benefit the Colts next season is the fact that the majority of their toughest games, on paper, are at home. Not including divisional opponents, since the Colts face them at home and on the road, Indy has five games against current playoff teams. Four of those games will be in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Indianapolis will host the Miami Dolphins, the Buffalo Bills, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Detroit Lions. The team that the Colts will go on the road to play is the Green Bay Packers.

While this is the only way to get an idea of the kind of schedule that Indy will play next season, each year is it’s own entity. The Colts won four games last year and nine this season. Anything can change from year to year. Indianapolis just needs to focus on improving throughout the offseason, so that they are prepared for any team they face next season.
