Colts rumored to be on the verge of a massive offseason move

The Indianapolis Colts are a team that appear to be in the running to trade for Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L'Jarius Sneed. According to Destin Adams, teams are waiting on the Chiefs to decide if they're planning on trading Sneed or not. The Chiefs currently have roughly $15 million and might decide to use that money on an extension for Sneed.

The Chiefs spent a fourth-round pick on Sneed in 2020 and the Louisiana Tech product has gone on to become an unquestioned number one cornerback. The Colts could use more help in their secondary even after re-signing Kenny Moore and keeping him in Indianapolis for the foreseeable future.

The AFC South rival Titans have reportedly been in the mix for Sneed so that's one team that has openly expressed interest in adding the two-time Super Bowl champion cornerback.

The Chiefs cleared up cap space and have the money to pay Sneed what he'd make on the franchise tag or extend him. Perhaps they haven't received an offer that they like yet and they're waiting for a team to blow them away with an offer.

The Colts have done a nice job keeping talent in-house but there's no debate that Sneed would make their defense better. He finished the 2023 season with a PFF grade of 71.1 and a coverage grade of 71.9 while going up against the best receivers in the league. There will be a lot of potential suitors targeting Sneed and if the Colts manage to land him, that'd be a massive move for Chris Ballard and the front office.
