Indianapolis Colts fans are obviously hoping that 2024 marks the beginning of what's a dominant career for Anthony Richardson. That being said, we're not here to talk about him.

Richardson needs weapons to be a good quarterback and it just so happens that one of his weapons is poised to have a breakout year in 2024. Marcus Mosher of The 33rd Team wrote that Jelani Woods could be a breakout tight end this year.

"The good news is that Woods is healthy entering the 2024 offseason and has been present during the Colts' OTAs. Going into Year 3, he is set for a massive breakout season with coach Shane Steichen and QB Anthony Richardson. Their offense is predicated on RPO throws to the middle of the field, which is fantastic news for Woods. He can be a weapon down the seam because of his size and speed.

Woods is a great athlete and has shown flashes when he has played. It's all about staying healthy because he should be a target hog in this offense. Don’t be shocked when he records 700-plus yards and scores double-digit touchdowns this season."

Jelani Woods poised for breakout year in 2024

Unfortunately, Woods missed all of last year with an injury but the hope is that he shows glimpses of what made him a third-round pick just two years ago. Woods had 25 catches for 312 yards and three touchdowns during his rookie year in 2022 and that was with an aging Matt Ryan, an inexperienced Sam Ehlinger, and Nick Foles throwing to him.

Having Richardson out there as the only quarterback (hopefully) should help Woods' game grow to the next level. The Colts also have Kylen Granson and Mo Alie-Cox at the tight end position but hopefully, Woods becomes the go-to option for Richardson in a pivotal year for both players.
