Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is revising his recent top five NFL players list that received a lot of pushback from fans, especially the ones in Indy.

Recently, Jim Irsay, the team owner of the Indianapolis Colts, tweeted out his top five greatest NFL players of all time. Irsay’s initial list had Jim Brown, Tom Brady, John Elway, Deacon Jones, and Reggie White, in that order (1-5). After tweeting that out, Irsay received a bit of pushback.

That's typically the case with any sort of rankings. Fans were shocked that Irsay, the owner of the Colts, didn’t have Peyton Manning on the list. Other people questioned where were names like Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, and Barry Sanders. Irsay intially offered a follow up tweet defending his original ranking, but now, he’s updating his list completely.

On Monday, Jim Irsay returned to Twitter and explained that his first ranking was rather casual. After a bit more consideration, Irsay has a new top five that he’s standing by. Jim Brown is still first, Deacon Jones is still fourth, Jerry Rice has now claimed the fifth spot from Reggie White, and Brady and Manning are tied for second.

Did Irsay cave to the pressure of social media or was his first list just a casual ranking that needed more thought as he said? Either way, this new list is what Irsay is going with, and there will certainly be a ton of disagreements as well, especially about the tie for second between Brady and Manning.

Truthfully, there’s not really a ranking that will please everyone, and it’s also hard to really have a wrong ranking. In the history of the NFL, the game has simply had too many great players to really create the perfect top five. There will always be someone deserving that is left off.
