Braden Smith and Ashton Dulin Injury Update

The only two notable players that were not out on the practice field were starting RG Braden Smith and WR Ashton Dulin. Smith missed a chunk of the season with a knee injury and Dulin is recovering from a torn ACL that occurred last offseason. We did find out that Braden Smith ended up having off-season knee surgery. It appears that both will be ready for training camp but nothing before that has been reported but don’t expect to see them until training camp. We did see CB Dallis Flowers out on the practice field as he returns from his Achillies injury.

A Second First Look At The New Rookie Class

This week's OTAs are the second time we have seen the new crop of rookies on the field after Rookie Mini-Camp a couple of weeks ago. Top picks Latu and Mitchell looked to be welcome additions to this team and were keeping up (if not surpassing) their competition. The other big story has been rookie Jaylon Carlies, who not only made a great interception on a Joe Flacco pass over the middle but how he adapts to a position change. The franchise is moving Carlies to linebacker permanently from safety, where he played at the University of Missouri. Look for rookie Jaylin Simpson to get a permanent position soon as well as he played both safety and defensive back at Auburn. It is expected that he will play safety this coming year and give some competition to the returning trio of Rodney Thomas, Justin Blackmon and Nick Cross.
