The Indianapolis Colts had a roller coaster of a season in 2023. Their new rookie quarterback, Anthony Richardson got off to a hot start, then got injured, then backup Gardner Minshew led them to the edge of a playoff spot before a fourth down drop in Week 18 cost them the AFC South against the Houston Texans.

Now, Richardson is getting ready to return for his sophomore season, hoping to stay healthy for the entire 2024 campaign. What does this mean for the Colts? What can we expect from them in the upcoming season?

Let's take a peak at their projected win total to get a better idea of what oddsmakers expect from them this year.

2024 Colts win total

I was surprised when I saw oddsmakers have the Colts' win total for the 2024 campaign set at 8.5 with the under juiced to -144. If you translate those odds to implied probability, there's a 59.02% chance the Colts will finish with fewer than nine wins next season.

That's baffling when you consider the Colts went 9-8 with a backup quarterback last season. That could be due to the lack of significant acquisitions in the offseason. They signed a few key extensions with the likes of Michael Pittman and Zaire Franklin, but haven't signed many pieces that will help them improve next year.

With that being said, even if the Colts don't take too many steps forward outside of getting a healthy Richardson back in the lineup, they still have the benefit of playing a relatively easy schedule. Their 2024 opponents had a combined 2023 win percentage of .491, which is one of the easiest schedules in the AFC.
