As the Indianapolis Colts try to turn their offense around, Indy has received a hilarious title for the offense it has put together for the 2023 season.

Last season, the offense for the Indianapolis Colts was abysmal. From injuries, to turnovers, to poor offensive line play, the offense couldn’t be counted on to consistently produce. They were a big reason why the Colts were just 4-12-1, and why Frank Reich was fired and Matt Ryan was released. Hopefully, things are now about to change.

Indianapolis hired offensive guru Shane Steichen as the team’s head coach, and Indy drafted quarterback Anthony Richardson with the fourth-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Colts also made several other additions as they hope to have a more productive offense in the 2023 season.

While everyone has to wait until the regular season to see what this new offense can actually do, the group has already received a funny title. In a recent episode of Reception Perception: The Show, analyst Matt Harmon named Indianapolis “the No. 1 off the bus offense in the NFL.”

By that, Harmon meant that the size and build of the players on Indy’s offense would make them the most impressive team if people were judging strictly off how they looked walking off the team bus.

Harmon makes an incredible point. With a 6-foot-4, 244-pound athletic quarterback in Anthony Richardson, a 226-pound running back in Jonathan Taylor, two starting receivers that are over 6-foot-3, and three tight ends that are 6-foot-5 or taller, there may not be a more physically imposing offense in the NFL. Now, the size just has to contribute to points.

James D Koh, the other analyst for Reception Perception: The Show, wouldn’t be surprised if those points started to come sooner rather than later. Koh makes the case that Indy’s offense is arguably the most athletic offense in the league, and will catch people by surprise.

It will be on Shane Steichen to maximize the talent of all of these big, athletic bodies. However, while the Colts definitely have a promising set of skill players, the ceiling of this offense will be determined by the largest bodies on the team, the offensive line. The O-line was the biggest problem for Indy last season, and unless they get things figured out, the offense will continue to struggle.

Ultimately, Indianapolis has a lot of potential offensively. It’s time for them to go from the No. 1 off-the-bus offense, to the No. 1 on-the-field offense.
