Colts 7-Round Mock Draft: A trade back gives Anthony Richardson two more weapons
By Ryan Heckman
One of the biggest worries for Colts fans, right now, is who in the world is going to play safety for this team. In Round 2, the Colts get arguably the draft's top safety in Minnesota Gophers product Tyler Nubin. This guy is truly a do-it-all type at the position, who isn't afraid of getting into the mud. At 6-foot-1, 199 pounds, Nubin has excellent size.
Nubin is a straight-up leader. He is an alpha at his position, and he lets his opposition know it. He's a firm, sure tackler and doesn't shy away from contact. At the same time, he also has a ball hawk's mentality. His quick feet and fluid hips allow him to shift on a dime and track the football in the air, and many times he is able to make a play on it.
Last season for the Gophers, Nubin tallied 53 total tackles, five interceptions and four pass breakups. He also added a forced fumble, fumble recovery and a sack. The Colts get the best safety in the draft and fans can now rest knowing the position has been addressed in a serious manner.
