The Indianapolis Colts were able to salvage their season after Anthony Richardson went down with a season-ending injury, but missed out on the playoffs after losing to the Houston Texans in the final week of the regular season.

Now, the Colts look ahead to 2024 and the highly anticipated return of Richardson. The Florida product's rookie season got off to a hot start, so there's a lot to look forward to for the upcoming season.

Richardson started in four games in his rookie campaign, going 2-2 while averaging 144.3 passing yards per game along with 136 rushing yards. He was responsible for seven total touchdowns (three passing, four rushing) and three just one interception in those starts.

So, how will he fare in 2024? We can take a look at the opening odds to win NFL MVP to get an idea of how oddsmakers expect him to perform compared to the rest of the NFL landscape.

Anthony Richardson's MVP odds are promising

Despite playing in only four games last season, oddsmakers seem to have faith in Anthony Richardson. As of writing this article, FanDuel Sportsbook has his MVP odds set at +3000, which is the 15th best odds amongst all players.

Even if you think Richardson is better than the 15th best quarterback in the NFL, you can't argue too much considering we've only seen him play in four games in his career. With that being said, it's beyond promising to see that he's set at 30/1 to win MVP in his first full season.

For the rest of his career, he'll draw comparison to his 2023 rookie class counterparts. While he's understandably well below CJ Stroud (+1100), he's well ahead the No. 1 overall pick, Bryce Young, who had a rough rookie campaign and is now set at +10000 to win the award in his second year.

If there's one concern we would have about him is his ability to stay health given how often he runs the ball. He racked up 25 carries in his first four starts and it may have been the cause of his AC joint sprain that forced him to miss the majority of his rookie season.

Still, if you have faith Richardson can be in the MVP conversation next year, now is the time to bet him at 30/1 at FanDuel Sportsbook.
