External candidates for Colts offensive coordinator

Brian Johnson-Current Eagles Offensive Coordinator

Brian Johnson was relieved of his duties in Philadelphia along with defensive coordinator Sean Desai. This was Johnson’s first season as the play caller taking over for his predecessor, Shane Steichen. While we did see some regression from the overall offensive production this year in Philadelphia, it speaks to more of the impact that Steichen was making in Philadelphia and with that staff.

It appears Steichen was able to get more out of Philly than Johnson or Nick Sirianni have been able to. That doesn’t mean Brian Johnson would be unable to handle another OC role. Having Steichen fully in charge of him could help to re-establish what was working when they were together.

Kevin Patullo-Eagles Passing Game Coordinator

Are you seeing the pattern yet? Steichen mentioned continuity in his post-season presser and Kevin Patullo worked with Steichen in Philadelphia. Patullo also some familiarity with the Colts franchise as he worked with wide receivers with Frank Reich’s staff. Patullo has shown his specialty in coaching receivers with showing success with such names as TY Hilton, DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown. With the Colts moving forward in building around Richardson, the pass catchers will be a key area of focus for the future of this team.
