3 training camp standouts that could shine throughout the Colts preseason

When the Colts start preseason play against the Bills, household names won’t play much, but there are still plenty of unproven talents who deserve monitoring.

2. Darrell Baker Jr. has been a camp standout for Colts

A budding (star)ter throughout the summer, Darrell Baker Jr. is poised to show he belongs in this league. Baker was an undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Rams just a year ago but has since found promise amidst a favorable situation in Indy.

Baker has shined day after day all camp long, trading blows with starting receivers Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce, where he's actually come out on top more often than not. This could be unveiling a concern in the wide receiver room before our very eyes (it's not), nonetheless, Baker has proven himself as the team's starting CB1.

Whether or not he remains the starter, Baker has at the very least showed he belongs. I can't express just how impressive he's been in camp. From perfectly executed cover 2 concepts to diving pass deflections, Baker has shown he is certainly talented enough.

Let's see how he does with live reps against an opposing team's wideouts who he hasn't been able to study day after day, but based on his preseason efforts thus far, I'd say we're in for at least a couple highlights over a quarter's play.
