Getting off the field on third down

The Colts young secondary was a major issue last season as the Colts struggled to get off the field at key points of the game. The secondary was then hampered even more by the injury to JuJu Brents, Dallas Flowers, and eventually Julian Blackmon. The Colts let Stephon Gilmore walk in free agency and that seemed to be a major mistake.

The Colts had multiple games where they were leading going into the fourth quarter but just couldn't close out the game due to the defense not getting the ball back to the offense. Indianapolis has chosen to go young on defense and because of that there have been growing pains.

A quarterback's best friend is a defense that he can trust to get the ball back for him. The Colts must upgrade their secondary and edge defenders to get the ball back in the hands of Richardson and company.
