2. Colts can sign cornerback Marcus Peters
While the Colts do have talent in their secondary, and they got a bit younger picking up some solid guys in this draft, they need a veteran. The Colts have tried this route with Stephon Gilmore and Xavier Rhodes, but Marcus Peters has still shown some solid talent in recent years.
He recently visited with the Las Vegas Raiders, but he hasn’t signed anywhere yet. If the Colts are able to snag him away from that AFC opponent, it can work out in their favor.
Marcus Peters does improve the secondary from a talent perspective, but with this team getting Julius Brents, Darius Rush, and Jaylon Jones, Peters can take on a leadership role, and help develop the rookie corners and other young players in this secondary.
Isaiah Rodgers Sr. is currently the veteran outside corner in the room and he’s only entering his fourth season. Even the safety room is extremely young with several guys in their first few years.
Now Marcus Peters may have a decent price tag, but again, if things can work out, the Colts should be willing to add his leadership and shutdown ability to this team.
