With the NFL deep into the 2023 offseason, several former Indianapolis Colts have lingered in free agency.

Now that it’s June, the NFL is halfway through the offseason. The league has already made it through free agency frenzy, the draft, the schedule release, and are currently in OTAs. The next major point of the offseason is training camp, which will roll around at the end of July.

Although the offseason is progressing along, there are still several veterans that remain available. The Indianapolis Colts could be interested in adding some of these veterans. Additionally, some of these available players were with the Colts last season. Although there wasn’t a place for them in Indy, it’s a bit surprising that some of the names are still available.

Let’s take a look at three former Colts who are still surprisingly free agents.

3. Quarterback Nick Foles is still available

Nick Foles wasn’t initially supposed to be a free agent this offseason. Last summer, Foles signed a two-year contract with the Colts and was supposed to serve as Matt Ryan’s backup. His experience with Frank Reich made him the perfect QB2 in Indy.

However, Reich was fired last season, Ryan was eventually cut, and Gardner Minshew was signed, as he has history with Indy’s new head coach Shane Steichen. With the Colts drafting Anthony Richardson and also still having Sam Ehlinger, there wasn’t much room for Foles.

So, Indy released him after one season. Although it didn’t work out in Indy, Foles is still a competent backup and it’s a bit shocking that he hasn’t signed with a new team yet. He’s only 34 years old, and considering his history in the league, he’d be a much better second option for several teams.
