1. Anthony Richardson brings a new element to Colts offense

Anthony Richardson’s athleticism is the biggest reason people have been so excited for him. As a dual-threat quarterback he brings an element to the Colts offense that it hasn’t had in a while. His ability to run the ball will allow Shane Steichen to draw up some incredible plays and will also make the offense more explosive.

On Wednesday, fans got their first glimpse of that. One of Richardson’s plays that got everyone excited was a read option down in the red zone where he kept the ball. While a simple play, it’s a play that Indianapolis hasn’t utilized much in recent years, because of who the team has had a quarterback.

This is certainly just scratching the surface. Steichen will design plenty of plays that will get Richardson in space with the ball in his hands, and allow him to put on a show with his athleticism. Once Richardson is officially the team’s starter, fans will see the playbook open up in entirely new ways, and the Colts offense definitely shouldn’t be boring.
