2. Darrell Baker Jr. is a player to watch for Colts

After losing Stephon Gilmore, Isaiah Rodgers Sr., and Brandon Facyson in one offseason, cornerback became a position of focus for the Indianapolis Colts. As everyone wondered who would step up for Indy, the conversation centered around the three rookie corners: JuJu Brents, Darius Rush, and Jaylon Jones, and also second-year defensive back Dallis Flowers.

Darrell Baker Jr., however, was left out of the conversation. After spending time on Indy’s practice squad, and also playing on special teams as a rookie last season, Baker is back for his second season with the Colts. He’s also currently listed as one of the starting cornerbacks.

It’ll be interesting to watch him throughout the preseason to see if he can hold off the rookie corners who are also trying to get on the field. JuJu Brents was selected by Indy in the second round, and many believe he could start as a rookie. However, an injury kept him out most of the offseason. He’s now healthy and back on the field.

With both cornerback spots wide open, will Darrell Baker Jr. be able to show that he deserves to be one of the starters or will he lose his current spot to one of the talented rookies?
