The Indianapolis Colts' defense has been hit with numerous injuries in the 2025 NFL season. In spite of this, they have made key plays when they needed to, which is part of the reason this team sits atop the AFC with a league-best 7-1 record.
With the November 4th trade deadline approaching, Indianapolis would be wise to add a key piece to the defense and help solidify a playoff run. To do this, the Colts need look no further than to the conference foe just a short trip down I-74 in the Cincinnati Bengals.
Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson has reportedly requested a trade, and a reunion with his former defensive coordinator, Lou Anarumo, makes sense. Coach Anarumo was in Cincinnati from 2019 to 2024, so Wilson was able to learn under him for the first five seasons of his career.
Logan Wilson's trade value is hard to pass up for the Indianapolis Colts
Logan has made an impact over his six-year career, accumulating 5.5 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, and 11 interceptions. The same aggressive style Wilson plays with was cultivated by the Anarumo defensive scheme, which is now in place with the Colts.
A factor in Wilson's request for a trade is that others have eaten into his playing time. This fact gives Indianapolis leverage in a potential trade as the asking price for Wilson has taken a hit. Another factor is the contract extension he signed in 2023, which has a team-friendly out after the 2026 season, and the Colts could be looking at a steal.
There does not seem to be a world in which a player-for-player swap would make sense due to the devaluation Wilson's stock has undergone. Perhaps a fourth or fifth-round draft pick would be more in line with the type of value Cincinnati should expect a team to give up in return for Wilson, as any potential suitor will also be looking at a contract negotiation.
All of this, of course, is speculation. Indianapolis could certainly look elsewhere or attempt to fill a different need. There is, however, enough intrigue around the possibility of bringing in Logan Wilson to once again play for Coach Anarumo that it begins to look like an obvious choice. Just as Peaches & Herb used to sing, "reunited and it feels so good."
