Pat McAfee confirms Colts' Daniel Jones is a man of the people

He knows how to celebrate.

The legend of Daniel Jones as the starting quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts is just beginning to grow. Maybe it only has a two-game shelf-life, and Dimes will melt down in Week 3 and the rest of the season. Or maybe head coach Shane Steichen has helped him find his way.

One thing seems certain for now, though, and that is that Jones is enjoying his recent success. This is according to former Colts punter and current ESPN talking head Pat McAfee. McAfee, of course, still has strong ties to the team and knows what players do before, during, and after games.

How did Daniel Jones celebrate beating the Denver Broncos? According to McAfee, the quarterback went out on the town and had a couple of beers with fans. To be fair, McAfee did add the caveat of "maybe" that's what Jones did, while seemingly making clear that's what happened.

The former punter is a fan of the move, too. Instead of keeping one's distance and possibly seeing themselves as above fans simply because they are good at playing a sport, McAfee thinks being "old school" and interacting with regular people is a great thing.

As McAfee put it, "We are not saying (intermingling with fans is) a negative — that is 1,000% a positive. The (players) enjoying the city; that is a good thing, not a bad thing. (That) hadn't been happening for a long time. Danny Dimes (is) an old-school guy."

Of course, the hope is that Jones can keep his level up. Through two games, his quarterback rating is much higher than any other season in his career. His current QBR is 111.1, which ranks sixth in the league. His previous high is 92.5.

Daniel Jones could potentially be even better for the Indianapolis Colts, though. He has two touchdown passes through two games, and that would equate to only 17 for the season. He could easily reach 30 if he continues to play as well as he has.

Even if Dimes' quarterback rating falls a little, he might be more productive. The offense does need to score more touchdowns and fewer field goals, but there is no reason to not expect that to happen. Jones has already exceeded the early-season expectations most had for him.
