The Indianapolis Colts did something in Week 8 that fans are getting used to: Beating opponents exceedingly easily. Indy defeated the Tennessee Titans 38-14, a game that kept increasingly getting worse for Titans fans. For Indy fans, two plays will be very memorable.
One was an 80-yard touchdown run by running back Jonathan Taylor. The problem with the play is an ironic one: We have simply gotten used to Taylor doing great things. He runs for 80 yards and a score? Why not? He's a future Hall of Famer; that is what he should do.
Wide receiver Michael Pittman had the other play, which was a highlight reel 21-yard touchdown catch. The yards were not the impressive part. That came when Pittman was basically being tackled by a Titans defender, only had one arm in order to try to catch the pass, somehow caught the ball and the arm of the defender, and landed in the end zone.
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman makes star turn in Week 8
Taylor's run is going to be shown on game recaps this week, but so will Pittman's catch. Another interesting part was that it wasn't the only good catch by Pittman on the same drive. Earlier, he ran a crossing pattern, and quarterback Daniel Jones's pass hit him in the helmet.
Many receivers would have lacked the concentration to stay with the ball, especially after the ball hit Pittman's helmet and bounced high in the air. Instead, Pittman, with all the cool and poise he normally plays with, corralled the ball for a first down while a defender draped all over him.

Maybe it is that cool and poised that keeps Michael Pittman from being the household name he should be in the NFL. He isn't going to lead the league in receptions or receiving yards ever, but he could in the right system. With the Indianapolis Colts, he is just one of a number of good receivers, though Pittman is the best.
His 21-yard touchdown catch was remarkable, but because of how it unfolded, not that the wide receiver caught the ball. This is Michael Pittman, after all, a wideout who has caught 68 percent of his targets in his career. He caught eight of nine targets in Week 8 for 95 yards.
The great part is that general NFL fans will be forced to notice the Indianapolis Colts' best receiver by seeing replays of his stellar catch against the Titans. It likely won't be the last great catch Michael Pittman makes this season.
