Before the 2025 season started, the Indianapolis Colts weren't expected to have much success. The Houston Texans had practically already been crowned the AFC South champions, with little optimism for the Colts.

But then the season started, and the Colts are 2-0, sitting atop the division with the Texans struggling at 0-2. The biggest story of the offseason, the quarterback battle between Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson, was resolved once Jones had been named QB1 without much excitement. But to everyone's surprise, Jones has been one of the best quarterbacks in the league so far this season.

It's exactly what Indianapolis needed to do to revitalize the franchise, especially in a year where the goal was to win for Jim, in honor of Jim Irsay's unexpected passing earlier this year. And the latest power rankings from a former NFL scout will surely be making Irsay proud.

The Indianapolis Colts are a top 10 team

Bucky Brooks is a former NFL player and scout, and he released his latest power rankings for Fox Sports. The Colts came in at #7, a shocking turn considering how poorly last season went, and it is in large part due to Jones' performance.

"Who knew that Daniel Jones could play at a Pro Bowl level after being unceremoniously dismissed in New York?" he wrote. "While it might be hard for 'Danny Dimes' to earn individual accolades in the AFC, he could pull off one of the league’s biggest surprises by leading the Colts to a playoff berth."

The season is still young, and Jones still has to prove himself. So far, the Colts offense has scored on every one of their drives, which is hardly a bad problem to have. But of course, Jones has yet to show how he'll perform when Indianapolis is behind.

The Colts haven't been to the playoffs in several years, and haven't won the AFC South since 2014. And while yes, it is still early, it's worth noting that the Colts' Week 2 win was not against a small team; they bested the Denver Broncos, with Jones continuing to perform well no matter what the Broncos defense threw at him.

Despite being blitzed on over 70% of his dropbacks, Jones still threw for the fourth-most passing yards against the blitz in any game since 2016.

Everything isn't all sunshine and roses, of course; some concerning injuries could be problematic. But as it stands right now, with the Colts set to take on the Tennessee Titans, nothing is holding Indianapolis back from a strong 3-0 start to the season.
