For the first time since 2009, the Indianapolis Colts are 3-0. There are a number of reasons for this, of course. The offense is playing much more efficiently than in previous seasons, the defense has a new direction, and the team found a reliable kicker (at least from within 50 yards). There might be something else, though.

Plus, let's be honest, a team is helped when it has a running back as great as Jonathan Taylor. Taylor led the NFL in rushing with 1,811 yards in his second season in 2021, and through three games in 2025, he leads the league in rushing yards (338) and touchdowns (4).

But a team doesn't win with just one great player. In fact, sometimes a team can have great pieces, but the whole fails. Culture matters, and right now, Indianapolis has a great one.

Jonathan Taylor raves about the Indianapolis Colts' culture

Talking to 107.5 The Fan, Taylor raved about lots of elements of the team after Indy's hot start to the season, but all related to the culture. Everyone is bought in currently, and this hasn't been the case for a few years in Indianapolis. Winning helps.

Taylor said, "It’s the guys banding together and understanding that the preparation each and every single day... is what’s going to propel us to the win on Sunday. But ultimately, when Sunday comes, it’s about the execution."

The running back is also appreciative of the different way the quarterback is handling pre-game activities. Taylor implied the offense is much more prepared for games, not just because of the coaching staff, but because of free agent acquisition Daniel Jones.

One of the parts of the QB's game that the New York Giants missed when Jones was there for six seasons was the quarterback's high football IQ. While Jones is only taking a few more risks down the field in 2025, the offensive system fits his skill set. He knows where to go with the ball, and he knows this because he has planned so well.

Taylor said of Jones, "(Jones is) just so dialed into the details. Whenever (the offense gets) a look or whatever the situation is on Sunday, we’ve already gone over it."

But all the happiness surrounding the Indianapolis Colts will be tested over the next four games. Indy next faces the Los Angeles Rams on the road, back home against the improved Las Vegas Raiders and the solid Arizona Cardinals, and then travels back to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers.
