Several Indianapolis Colts players could be playing the final games of their Indy careers. Or not. All the talk of the team trading key pieces could be merely speculation and not based on fact. That said, NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Ian Rapoport think there is a good chance Jonathan Taylor is dealt, and they think they know where.

According to a report from ESPN on Sunday, Schefter and Rapoport said that the teams most likely to be thinking of trading for the running back are the Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, and the team the Colts are playing in Week 7, the Minnesota Vikings.

None of those teams might make a good enough offer to pry Taylor from Indianapolis, of course, and the assumption is that any move would mean the Colts acquire at least a second-round pick.

The best hope is that Indy would receive a first-round pick, one that would offset the loss of the first-rounder the team gave up in 2025 to get cornerback Sauce Gardner from the New York Jets.

Taylor remains one of the top players at his position in the NFL, even though he hasn't had a 100-yard rushing effort since November 9 last year. The fault isn't his. The offense has been limited without explosive wide receiver Alec Pierce, and opposing defenses are able to play closer to the line of scrimmage.

As for the teams named by Schefter and Rapoport, all of them could use a high-end running back, but some come with a catch. For Seattle, its running game has struggled because the team's presumed top two running backs have missed some or all of the season.

Jadarian Price and Zach Charbonnet are expected to return soon, though. The need for the Seahawks to trade for Taylor might be diminished because of that.

All of the speculation about Jonathan Taylor and fellow teammates DeForest Buckner, Grover Stewart, and Quenton Nelson being traded depends on how well the team does in the next three games before the November 10 deadline.

Even though general manager Chris Ballard has been fired, if the team wins its next three games to get to 5-4, the need to deal players, even those in the final years of their contracts, might be gone. Of course, if Indy loses to the Vikings in Week 7 and the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8, trading players for draft picks makes sense.

The best part for any team acquiring Taylor is that he signed an extension before this season. He would be under team control through 2028. That makes him a more valuable trade asset for the Indianapolis Colts.
