The Indianapolis Colts are three games into the season, haven't yet lost, the new quarterback is playing great, but no one has been as good as Indy's likely future Hall of Fame running back. Jonathan Taylor won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 2, and now he's done it again.
Taylor was awarded the AFC Player of the Week for the second straight time on Wednesday. Taylor had 102 yards rushing on 17 carries against the Tennessee Titans, but three of those carries went for touchdowns. (He also caught three passes for 16 yards.)
One touchdown run, in particular, is likely why Taylor took home the award. On a 46-yard Beast Mode-type effort, he faked out one would-be tackler, broke free of another, and then showed his incredible speed by outrunning the rest of the Titans.

It wasn't the kind of run most backs can do. It is the kind in which Taylor does quite a bit. Plus, he currently leads the NFL in rushing yards and total touchdowns. He is trending toward being a First-Team All-Pro, and maybe he will pick up some MVP votes, too.
It isn't like Jonathan Taylor is simply getting lucky. Indianapolis Colts fans are used to his greatness. He led the league in rushing in his second season with 1,811 yards, and he is currently fifth all-time in rushing yards per game (90.7).

That last part will change, of course. The running back could get injured, which would slow him down, and he might be less effective. Or he could find a way to even get better. He clearly has a lot of football left, and he is just 26 years old.
He could be the rare back that has an extensive workload, but mostly stays healthy. He has missed multiple games the last two seasons, and that is something to keep an eye on as the season grows old, but he has also played 14 in three of his five years.
No Colt player (not even Peyton Manning) had won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award two times in a row until Jonathan Taylor just did it. He is also the first AFC player to get two straight awards since Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen accomplished the feat in 2022.
