It only took one half for Colts fans to get sick of Joe Flacco

After what ended up being quite the eventful week for the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Shane Steichen made the polarizing decision to bench starting quarterback Anthony Richardson in favor of 39-year-old veteran Joe Flacco.

The decision came just days after Richardson not only struggled again, but infamously pulled himself out of the game on a third-and-goal because he was "tired."

That topic dominated NFL circles for 48 hours thereafter, until Steichen made the call to bench Richardson. Then, the topic may have been different but the players, in question, were not. The Colts' quarterback situation was a topic all over the football world.

In Week 9, Flacco would make his first start for the team in the wake of Richardson's benching, and in prime time against the Minnesota Vikings. To say the first couple of quarters didn't go swimmingly would be an understatement.

The Colts took a 7-0 lead into the half in what was a pretty ugly first 30 minutes. Flacco didn't do anything spectacular, and the offense looked mediocre at best after their first drive, which ended with a bizarre Jonathan Taylor fumble.

At halftime, Colts fans had already seen enough out of Flacco and were ready to see Richardson back under center. Having seen his quarterback go 7-for-13 for 72 yards with no scores in the first half, head coach Shane Steichen thought differently than the fan base, believe it or not.

"He's been pretty solid," Steichen said to Melissa Stark right after halftime.

It was safe to say Colts fans didn't exactly agree with the head coach.

So, we're already calling for Anthony Richardson. This is going to go over well.

That was the hope, but, it doesn't look that way.

I'm sensing a little bit of sarcasm here.

A great offense; fantastic, even.

Sarcasm is alive and well, here, folks.

I'm sure every Colts fan was thinking this at halftime, as well.

Oh, hey, look ... more sarcasm.

And, just in case we didn't already have enough... Mr. Dale offers yet another dose.

Yes, yes, it does Stephen. It certainly does.

Well, Colts fans are truly a sarcastic bunch. Some fan bases get downright angry. Indy? A completely different breed. This is a fan base fluent in sarcasm, and I can't say I blame their reactions.

Long-term? We surely better hope not.

Something tells me Jay is on to something here.
