The Indianapolis Colts' injury report was shaping up to be quite good ahead of the team's Week 6 showdown against the Tennessee Titans until late in Friday's practice. That is when tight end Tyler Warren appeared to hurt a groin muscle. The severity is unknown.

The team did list him as questionable for the game initially, and no update was given, implying that Warren could be a game-day decision. This article will be updated with the most recent information, of course, but whether Warren plays or not won't be known until likely closer to kickoff.

The Colts did activate veteran tight end Will Mallory for Week 6, which could imply that Warren won't play or will be limited. To be fair, the Titans are so bad (they are winless through the first five games) that even if Warren wasn't playing, Indy should be in good shape.

Activating Mallory means the active roster has five tight ends, which would appear to be too many, and the safe assumption would be that at least one of the players at the spot will be inactive against the Titans.

Through five games, Warren isn't having the kind of season he or fans probably hoped for. He was a first-round pick in 2025 and was expected to give the Colts the kind of receiving weapon at the position that they haven't had in years. He started really well last season, but then, like most of the rest of the offense, was limited in the second half of the season.

In 2026, he has 30 catches, but for only 213 yards. His average yards per catch is a paltry 7.1. Of his receptions, he has scored two touchdowns and picked up 10 first downs. He has mostly been a check-down option, but has the size and speed to be far more than that.

No matter what happens against the Titans, the Indianapolis Colts simply need to use Tyler Warren in better ways for the rest of the season. He is too valuable and too skilled to only be used in case of emergency. Why this has occurred is unclear, but the issue might be more scheme than anything else.

Tyler Warren's injury history:

  • September 2025 (at Penn State) - Toe injury (missed zero games)
  • August 2026 - Groin strain (preseason)
  • October 2026 - Groin pull (unknown status)

Tyler Warren obviously stays healthy most of the time and doesn't miss time when he is hurt. Hopefully, he can play through the current groin injury and do so productively.
