Is Daniel Jones playing today? Colts confirm QB's status vs. Chiefs Week 12

Will he or won't he?

Nothing like an unexpected injury scare to get a fanbase nervous. This was the case with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones in the days ahead of the team's Week 12 showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs. Jones was limited during practice on Thursday with a calf issue.

Thankfully, Jones was back to fully practicing on Friday, but might whatever the problem was in midweek flare up again before Sunday's game? Nothing could be fully ruled out, of course, but head coach Shane Steichen did appear to make clear Jones' status versus the Chiefs.

The quarterback is good to go in KC, and his calf problem was something related to his fibula. Does that seem odd? Definitely. Rarely is a player listed with a fibula injury, unless the bone is broken. Steichen was fairly vague on the details of his quarterback's injury, so maybe Danny Dimes simply had a bad bruise.

Colts' Daniel Jones will play in Week 12, and he could dominate vs. Chiefs

Whatever the problem, he is fine now, and people should feel free to keep him active in their fantasy football leagues. The hope now is that Jones reflected on his recent turnover problem (he has had seven total in the last two games) and has corrected the problem. Better ball control while under pressure in the pocket should be one change, for instance.

While Kansas City is never an easy place to play, and the Chiefs are 4-1 at home this season while only being 5-5 overall, the Colts are capable of beating any team anywhere. If Daniel Jones plays clean football, Indy should certainly be able to outscore Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City.

Indianapolis will also have cornerback Charvarius Ward back from injured reserve. He suffered his second concussion of the season in Week 7's pregame warmups and had been on injured reserve since. He will have no limitations against KC.

Week 12 will also be the first game that Indianapolis Colts fans get to see the elite cornerback duo of Ward and Sauce Gardner. Gardner was acquired from the New York Jets at the trade deadline while Ward was on IR.

Indy will release its full list of inactives about an hour and a half before the 1 pm ET kickoff. This page will be updated with that information once it is known.
