The Indianapolis Colts were seemingly headed to the playoffs this season, with a good chance of being dangerous once there. Unfortunately, injuries took a toll midway through the season, as well as a less efficient offense and a turnover problem. Maybe 2026 will be better.
Instead of Indy in Super Bowl 60, the Seattle Seahawks will play the New England Patriots. Both teams went 14-3 this season, and both are led by fairly new head coaches for the team. Seattle's Mike Macdonald has been on the job for two years. New England's Mike Vrabel is in his first season as head coach of New England, but he coached the Tennessee Titans previously.
It is Vrabel who might be key to who Colts fans should root for. Indianapolis does not have a lot of history of playing high-stress games against the Seahawks. The teams have met in the regular season, but never in the playoffs, and they play in different conferences.
How Indianapolis Colts fans can watch Super Bowl LX between the Seahawks and Patriots
The Patriots, though...they are an issue. The Peyton Manning versus Tom Brady years were some of the best in recent NFL history. While the Colts were the humble Midwest team, the Patriots were led by grumpy head coach Bill Belichick. Belichick also wasn't above bending the rules to help his team.
He did so ahead of the 2014 AFC Championship game when New England played with deflated footballs, which allowed Tom Brady to better grip the ball. Maybe the Pats were better than the Colts that season (they easily won the game), but they also cheated and shouldn't have been allowed to play in the Super Bowl.
The simple fact is, there is too much bad history between New England and Indianapolis for any Indy fan to want to cheer for the Patriots.
Here are the details for Super Bowl LX:
- How to watch: NBC and stream on Peacock
- Broadcast crew: Mike Tirico (play-by-play), Cris Collinsworth (analysis), Melissa Stark and Kaylee Hartung (sidelines reporters)
- Kickoff: 6:30-something pm ET
- Location: Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, California (home of the San Francisco 49ers)
- Favored: Seattle Seahawks by 4 over the New England Patriots, according to various bet sites (but odds are prone to constant changes)
- Halftime show: Bad Bunny (he will likely be great, and should be watched)
- National anthem: Charlie Puth
Ultimately, the question might not come down to whether to root for the Seattle Seahawks, but to cheer against the New England Patriots. As all Indianapolis Colts fans know, Seattle is way out in the Pacific Northwest, but the Patriots should always be reviled for how they approached playing the Colts.
