Colts fans get the DJ Giddens injury update they've been expecting

Just in time for Week 1

The Indianapolis Colts suffered a number of injuries in training camp and the preseason, and some of those players, such as rookie cornerback Justin Walley, were never going to be ready for Week 1. They were lost for the season.

Still, most of the key players for Indianapolis were good to go, and Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins is no different. Indy's offense should run with efficiency, as long as quarterback Daniel Jones is decent, and the Colts' defense should get pressure on Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Sure, Indianapolis hasn't won an opener in 11 years, and Miami could easily make that 12, but it appears injuries won't be the cause for a loss (not to jinx anything, of course). The Colts are in as good an injury situation as they could be ahead of Sunday's game.

How healthy are the Indianapolis Colts entering Week 1 versus the Miami Dolphins?

For the entire week leading up to the Dolphins game, only rookie running back DJ Giddens was listed on the injury report. He was limited in practice with an elbow problem. The good part is that it wasn't a knee or shoulder issue he was dealing with. An elbow issue for a running back is pretty rare.

He isn't necessarily out for Week 1, but is listed as questionable. Giddens needs reps as all rookies do, but the Colts would be at a much bigger loss if superstar Jonathan Taylor were already dinged up. He isn't Taylor will play and play well against the Dolphins.

Defensive lineman DeForest Buckner didn't practice on Friday, but was seemingly fine before then. He was just being rested, though resting a player on the last day of full practice before the first game of the season is a bit odd. That might be something Colts fans want to keep an eye on as the season grows old.

Ultimately, no one is ruled out for the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. That means the team should be healthy enough to defeat a Miami Dolphins team that doesn't have a good defense.
