He will still be great...hopefully

This season has been a complete dud since Daniel Jones' injury and the continued injuries on defense. After an 8-2 start and a near guarantee they would be in the postseason, the Colts have completely lost their mojo. The Colts, after the Texans' victory on Saturday, were officially eliminated from the playoffs.

This brings the playoff drought to six consecutive seasons, and Colts general manager Chris Ballard still has not won an AFC South division title during his tenure. That is an insane stat for someone who is still employed as an NFL general manager. The team has not won a playoff game since 2018, and their last appearance was in 2020.

Another year of what-ifs from this draft class. To recap some notables from this season's draft class. We saw JT Tuimoloau deal with injuries and growing pains. They lost Justin Walley and Hunter Wohler in the preseason. One name that left questioning his potential was first-round pick Tyler Warren, especially after Daniel Jones went down with an injury.

Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren left with questions after the Daniel Jones injury

Look, I’m not here to question the overall talent of Tyler Warren. In fact, the complete opposite for Warren. He is the quintessential tight end that all teams look to have on their roster.

Warren can block, catch, and even play quarterback if need be. He can even line up as a fullback, a proper jack of all trades player. After a solid start, we saw the second half of his season fall apart along with the Colts offense.

No matter what regime is in Indianapolis now or in the future, it’s evident his offensive role must increase. For all the faults of this team, the depth of pass catchers has never been in question. The one missing piece from last season was a game-changing tight end. To reiterate, I still think Warren is beyond capable of being that franchise tight end for Indianapolis.

Whether you believe the reduced role of Warren is the fault of the franchise. Or the opposing team's scheme to slow him down. Or whether he is quarterback-dependent on the scheme?

Some Indianapolis Colts fans have questioned whether this coaching staff is maximizing Tyler Warren's talents. I think he still has plenty to prove and is more than capable of doing so, whether with this staff or a new one.
