Anthony Richardson might have to pack his bags after watching Daniel Jones

Was Week 1 a massive indication that Anthony Richardson's time as a Colt is coming to an end?

Daniel Jones was surgical in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, and at this point, Anthony Richardson might have to pack his bags. How many of us truly had Daniel Jones playing out of his mind in Week 1 on our Bingo cards? I surely did not.

It was one of those games for Jones, and what I mean by that is he is still capable of playing out of his mind, but the major issue here is that he's never been able to sustain that for a considerable amount of time. Well, all in all, the Indianapolis Colts blew out the Miami Dolphins and are riding high.

And Daniel Jones playing as well as he did might just force Anthony Richardson to pack his bags...

Anthony Richardson's time with the Colts is surely coming to an end soon

According to Bleacher Report, "Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, the idea of a trade was 'broached' when Ballard and Richardson met in person last week to discuss Richardson's standing with the organization. Fowler noted that no formal trade request was made during the meeting.

"The meeting between Richardson and Ballard came about after Richardson's agent, Deiric Jackson, told ESPN's Stephen Holder on Aug. 19 that trust with the Colts was 'questionable' because they felt like Richardson did everything the organization asked in the offseason and training camp to warrant being the starter."

At this point, even if Daniel Jones regresses a bit and is just average, Richardson might not finish the season on the Colts. Indy also drafted Riley Leonard in the 2025 NFL Draft, so there is a solution for the backup QB spot if Richardson were to get moved.

And at this point, the third-year QB not being able to win the job this offseason should spell the end of his time with the franchise. It was a reach of a draft pick by Chris Ballard and is even more of a reach today.

Colts' fans surely wanted to see Anthony Richardson take some leaps this offseason and run away with the job, but that just didn't happen, and at this point, it's likely never going to happen for him in the NFL. It's time for the team to move on.
