The Indianapolis Colts' slump continues. Shane Steichen's seat might be getting blazing hot, and it's about time they start turning things around before the team's higher-ups have to make some tough calls.
That will force the head coach to get creative and think outside the box to get the job done in Week 3. To add insult to injury, this must-win game will come against a fellow AFC South team also looking for its first win of the season.
With the Houston Texans focusing on the usual suspects and trying to take the Colts' strengths away, Daniel Jones and the defense will have to rely on some unlikely contributors to get the job done in Week 3.
3 Indianapolis Colts who will have a surprisingly good game in Week 3
Seth McGowan
Throughout two games, rookie running back Seth McGowan has been a non-factor. He got two carries for a grand total of zero yards in Week 2, but with the Texans' hard-hitting defense looking to take out Jonathan Taylor, they may have to turn to him more often this time around.
The Texans are absolutely ruthless, and Taylor isn't the sturdiest guy out there. The best way to protect the star running back will be to send a battle tank to the field, as McGowan isn't afraid of contact and can certainly endure a beating.
Also, with strong safety Reed Blankenship struggling to get stops, having a bulldozer running past him would certainly open things up for the passing game as well. Taylor will do the heavy lifting, but McGowan might finally be in for a bigger role.
Justin Walley
The Justin Walley experience has been a tough watch in the first two weeks of the regular season. He drew a ton of buzz in training camp, but he's been the secondary's most glaring liability, and it hasn't been particularly close.
However, he may finally catch a break in this one. Dalton Schultz and Jaylin Noel aren't necessarily known for their big-play prowess, and maybe he just needed a couple of weeks to get a hold of the pro game's speed.
Walley hadn't played in a long time because of injuries, and he's making the transition to the slot after playing outside. Notably, this might also be his final shot to prove that he can be a starter before the Colts have to make a decision.
Keenan Allen
Keenan Allen's addition has been utterly disappointing thus far. He's made more headlines for his issues off the field than for his actual contributions on the gridiron, and it's safe to say patience is running out.
But after a couple of duds, a borderline Hall of Famer like him must show some pride and some teeth. He has seven catches on 11 targets for 37 yards, and his 5.3 yards per reception aren't that impressive, so he's definitely due for a big game.
Alec Pierce will be out for a while, so Tyler Warren and Josh Downs will likely handle the bulk of the work. But with Darius Slayton in town, it's clear that Allen is running out of time to sink or swim, and the turnaround must start now.
