If you like a lot of rain, then you will likely love Week 5 between the Indianapolis Colts and the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium. We are talking about just a drizzle, but instead, the remnants of a hurricane. Literally.
Hurricane Isaias has turned into a basic weather system at this point after once being a Category 3 storm in the Gulf of Mexico, but the system is still churning out lots of precipitation. For Pittsburgh, the brunt of the rainfall will hit just before the game kicks off at 1 pm ET.
According to the Weather Channel, between 6 am ET and 12 pm ET, there is nearly a 90 percent chance of rain. Even if the storm passes for the game, the field is going to be extremely wet. Plus, there is a chance of precipitation during the period of time the game will be played.
The Indianapolis Colts versus the Pittsburgh Steelers could be rainy mess in Week 5
The positive part is that the wind doesn't appear to be too bad. No more than 10 mph is expected, so once passes are in the air, a problem shouldn't exist. The issue that does is a potentially wet football.
Why does this matter so much? Because Colts quarterback Daniel Jones has had major issues with turnovers over his last nine games, going back to last season. He has turned the ball over 15 times in that span, and he has seven turnovers in four games this year. Three of those are fumbles, a problem that Jones had early in his career, and for the last bit, too.
The Steelers' defense is second in the league in forcing turnovers with eight. Four of those have been fumbles. Pittsburgh players will absolutely try to knock the ball out of Jones' hands, and edge rusher TJ Watt is a master at doing so.
Pittsburgh is a decent team, but the Colts have the better overall roster. What could even the proverbial playing field is Daniel Jones not playing well again and having too many turnovers. If he fumbles deep in his own territory, Pittsburgh could steal a low-scoring game.
The rain, of course, would only help the Steelers in giving Jones issues. The hope is that the precipitation arrives early, the field is in good shape, and the matchup can be played relatively cleanly. That would give the Colts the advantage.
