The Indianapolis Colts were able to take some momentum into the bye week thanks to a 31-25 overtime victory over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10. As much as Colts fans would like to be positive about the trajectory of the season, there is cause for concern due to one aspect of their performance of late.
Mistakes would be that one aspect I'm referring to. Indianapolis, with the exception of three games, has been able to keep the penalties under control. Of late, it's the turnovers that have been a problem for the Colts' offense.
Through the first eight games of the 2025 NFL season, Indianapolis was able to avoid turning the ball over in six of those games. The team only had four total turnovers in those eight games. In the Colts' past two games, they've had eight total turnovers, six of which came in the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9.
Has Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones lost his confidence?
Colts quarterback Daniel Jones has looked less like Indiana Jones and more like Danny Dimes, who is unsure of himself or what decisions he should make. Jones' lengthy injury history has become less of a concern as the QB has gifted their past two opponents four interceptions and three fumbles.
In the game against Pittsburgh, the Indianapolis offensive line was unable to stop the aggressive Steelers defense. The Colts had been the ones with the aggressive defense up to that game, thanks to the high-scoring Indianapolis offense.
Atlanta was outgained by Indianapolis by nearly 230 yards (519-290), and the Colts still needed overtime to put away the Falcons due, in part, to Jones' affinity for gifting. He threw an interception just before halftime and fumbled on the Colts' first drive of the second half. Both are momentum killers.
Daniel Jones' career seemed to be resurrected until the past two games. Fans could certainly argue that one bad game (Pittsburgh) can be expected, and that the game against the Falcons wasn't that bad.
It is safe to say we would also like to see Daniel Jones regain the poise and confidence he had shown through eight weeks. Indianapolis hits the road to take on the Kansas City Chiefs when it exits the bye week. Hopefully, Indiana Jones is back to form against the defending AFC champs.
