The Indianapolis Colts were a bit more active than they usually are in free agency during the 2025 NFL offseason, signing Daniel Jones to compete with Anthony Richardson and rebuilding the secondary with huge contracts handed out to both Camryn Bynum and Charvarius Ward.
That doesn't mean Chris Ballard can put the proverbial pencil down and go back to his passive ways. The AFC South is still wide open at this point, and the Colts need to address their holes on the offensive line and tight end rooms with some of their top picks.
The Colts should be able to reload with quality talent in the 2025 NFL Draft, as this draft is regarded as a strong class for many of Indy's less talented positional rooms. Following this play could be one way for Ballard to ace this draft and build a team capable of making it to the playoffs.
Indianapolis Colts 3-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft
Round 1, Pick 14: Colston Loveland, TE, Michigan
It seems unlikely that either Loveland or Penn State's Tyler Warren will make it past Indianapolis at No. 14 overall. With Warren's stock rising to the point where he could end up in the Top 10, the Colts could draft a new safety blanked for Anthony Richardson and an excellent blocker all in one.
Loveland, now healthy after some injuries in his final season, has shown off some tremendous route-running, soft hands, and the ability to rumble after the catch and make plays. Loveland might be one of the safest players in this class, which should make him a player who thrives next to Richardson.
Round 2, Pick 45: Carson Schwesinger, LB, UCLA
Even with only one season of high-end starting experience, Schwesinger showed off such tremendous sideline-to-sideline covering ability and tackling skill in the open field that it will be unlikely he makes it out of the first two rounds in this draft. The Colts could guarantee him some playing time as a rookie.
EJ Speed remains unsigned, and a new starter next to Zaire Franklin is needed. Schwesinger may be in for an iffy rookie season due to how green he is, but he could eventually build himself into a player who could become a fringe Pro Bowl starter if his vacuum-like tackling makes it to the pros.
Round 3, Pick 80: Marcus Mbow, IOL/OT, Purdue
Both of the Colts' starting tackles will hit free agency after this season, and two starting offensive linemen in center Ryan Kelly and right guard Will Fries signed with the Minnesota Vikings. A new starter is needed, and Mbow's profile could either make him a tackle or someone who starts if they kick inside to guard.
Mbow may not have had the best results when paired against NFL-caliber athletes, which makes him a bit on the raw side. With Indianapolis in need of multiple new starters to emerge on the offensive line, Mbow could play a huge role in keeping Richardson clean.
