The Indianapolis Colts will release their inactives list for Week 3 about an hour and a half before the 1 pm ET kickoff against the Houston Texans. Once the list comes out, this article has been updated to show the full list. That said, because of injuries to its wide receiver group, Indy already knew they'd be thin at the position.

$114 million man Alec Pierce won't be listed as out because he has already been placed on injured reserve after aggravating or re-injuring the ankle/heel he had surgery on in March. He will miss at least the next four games, and possibly quite a bit more.

He seemingly wasn't healthy enough to be playing in Weeks 1 and 2. The team might say otherwise, but all evidence points to Pierce needing more time before coming back. He was injured too quickly after little practice, after being cleared by the Colts' medical staff to return.

Fellow wide receiver Ashton Dulin was ruled out on Friday, as he has been dealing with an ankle issue. He has no timeline for return, either, though at least he hasn't been placed on injured reserve.

The absences of Pierce and Dulin meant Indy would go into a battle against a difficult AFC South opponent with a lot of unknowns at the wide receiver spot. Josh Downs will play and could see a major uptick in targets. Keenan Allen will also play, but he has been inefficient since signing with Indianapolis before the season.

Indianapolis did sign free agent Darius Slayton in the week before the game, but he hasn't practiced much with the Indianapolis Colts. The positive is that he played with quarterback Daniel Jones when both were with the New York Giants. That previous chemistry could be key to any future success. He is inactive in Week 3.

Rookie Deion Burks and veteran Anthony Gould may also be needed to step up against a very good Texans secondary. Burks has the ability to be explosive, and the team is seemingly lacking that, with Pierce being injured again.

Quarterback Riley Leonard was also expected to be listed as inactive since he is the third-string QB. He can enter the game if Jones and backup Anthony Richardson are injured during the game.

Here is the full list of the Indianapolis Colts' inactives for Week 3:

  • Wide receiver Ashton Dulin (ankle)
  • Wide receiver Darius Slayton (healthy)
  • Running back DJ Giddens (healthy)
  • Edge rusher George Gumbs Jr. (healthy)
  • Quarterback Riley Leonard (healthy)
  • Guard Dalton Tucker (healthy)
