The Indianapolis Colts have a way of releasing final injury reports ahead of each game that offer no drama. Head coach Shane Steichen is pretty clear about who is going to play and who isn't, even if he doesn't give many details about why a player might be injured. In Week 4 against the Washington Commanders, Steichen isn't ruling out any player.
That is, except for wide receiver Alec Pierce, who has already been ruled out for the game because he is on injured reserve after aggravating his heel (or ankle) issue that he had surgery on in March. He will miss at least the next two games beyond Week 4, but that might be fine. After all, Indy won in Week 3 without him.
Sure, the team is better with him, but as long as Pierce is the only key player not participating in games, everything should be fine. That is the case against the Commanders. Some players might be listed as limited, and cornerback Charvarius Ward was listed on the week's injury report with "rest" and "groin" designations, but he should play.
No active Indianapolis Colts players has been ruled out for Week 4
Ward was probably listed more on the injury report so that he could miss a little practice time before the team headed to London, England, where they will play the Commanders on Sunday, October 4th, at 9:30 am ET. The cornerback, after all, welcomed the birth of a new child, and the team was probably fine with giving him some time away.
On Friday's injury report, and notably after the team landed in London, Ward was listed as "did not practice" and is officially listed as questionable, but Steichen implied he would play. That should be the expectation.
Friday's practice was also only a walk-through, so any injury report was only an estimate. That means Ward's designation is kind of meaningless. The team flew to London on Thursday night after practicing at team facilities for the previous two days.
Wide receiver Ashton Dulin, who is an important part of the special teams unit, missed Week 3 and seven practices in a row, but he was limited this week. Again, Shane Steichen isn't ruling anyone out for Week 4 for the Indianapolis Colts.
For the Washington Commanders, quarterback Jayden Daniels has been ruled out for his second straight game after he dislocated his elbow in Week 2. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin is questionable with a new hamstring issue. Former Colts safety Nick Cross is out with an illness.
