Colts fans won’t believe where this ex-QB just showed up

Not until his 12th season in the NFL did quarterback Joe Flacco play for anyone other than the Baltimore Ravens. That is about the time that many quarterbacks would retire, but not Flacco. He has gone on to play for five more teams, including the Indianapolis Colts in 2024.

Flacco isn't done, either. He signed to come back to the Cincinnati Bengals for his 19th season. He won't start, but he will get paid to back up Joe Burrow. That's fine with Flacco. It also seems fine with Netflix as the streamer has made Flacco a part of its Quarterback series this year.

Flacco will be joined by young stars Cam Ward, the quarterback for Indy's AFC South rivals, the Tennessee Titans, and the Washington Commanders' Jayden Daniels. and veteran Baker Mayfield.

Daniels and Ward will bring eyes to the screen because of their youth and explosiveness. Mayfield doesn't seem overly interesting when he speaks, but he has enough charisma to shine through. Flacco, meanwhile, is simply the voice of reason.

Netflix likes to have one older quarterback involved, it seems. They've recently had Kirk Cousins on the series, too. Perhaps because the series wants to show what the NFL is like for one just beginning their careers, but also showing a veteran long in the tooth who has seen everything there is to see. That is certainly Flacco.

As for Colts fans, the draw, besides just the general interest of watching NFL quarterbacks go about their business, would likely be Flacco. He wasn't perfect in 2024, but he took over for an injured and/or inefficient Anthony Richardson, especially after AR5 had his infamous "tap out" game in October of that season, and supplied some poise for a struggling team.

Is Joe Flacco going to have several interviews where he trashes former teammates or the higher-ups of the organizations he has worked for, such as Indianapolis Colts general managerChris Ballard? Not at all. Flacco isn't going to say anything shocking. His value comes from his memories and experiences.

Still, wouldn't it be fun to hear Flacco speak about something stunning? Maybe he goes off on how the Anthony Richardson situation went down, or how he left the Baltimore Ravens. Surely, somewhere deep down inside him, he can shock. Why not do that on Netflix's Quarterback on July 14, when Season 3 drops? (Maybe because he's too classy for that.)
