The Indianapolis Colts need to make the playoffs, but as far as the roster, things look solid for the next few years. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, they are taking things one year at a time at the most important position in sports: Quarterback. Aaron Rodgers is back again.

Why Pittsburgh keeps waiting every offseason on a 40-plus-year-old to come back, when his once-immense skills are obviously diminished, is anyone's guess. For Indy fans, the only concern entering next season is to hope that the Colts put an end to all the good vibes the Steelers' organization feels about the future Pro Football Hall of Famer returning.

Indianapolis plays Pittsburgh in Week 5 next season, a time when the Steelers could be 3-1 and feeling good. In the Steelers' first four games, they take on the Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns, which should be victories, and also the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots, of which Pittsburgh could easily win one of those contests.

The Colts, meanwhile, have a dreadful start to the season with games against the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, and Houston Texans. All of those could be without starting quarterback Daniel Jones, who could still be working his way back from a torn Achilles tendon suffered late last season.

He might return in Week 5 instead of Week 4 when Indy travels to London to take on the Washington Commanders. By the time he comes back, Indianapolis could be a desperate team needing wins, and no team is ever more dangerous than when they are facing must-win situations.

To make things a bit more fun for Colts fans, Daniel Jones was a free agent this offseason, and he could have signed anywhere. That could have been with the quarterback-needy Steelers, who were still waiting for Aaron Rodgers to decide if he wanted to play next season or not.

Jones would have been a better long-term option for Pittsburgh as Rodgers is now 42 years old, and Jones is still only about to be 29 years old. The Steelers could be watching the future they could have had, leading an opposing offense up and down the field, outscoring the aged Rodgers.

Should the Indianapolis Colts get a win in London against an iffy Washington team, the Steelers game could help continue building a lot of momentum. After Pittsburgh, Indy plays the Tennessee Titans. Three straight wins could be a real possibility.

For Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers, a loss to the Colts could be the real beginning of the end for the quarterback's time in Pittsburgh. Indianapolis could offer the clearest suggestion to the Steelers that they could have had a younger and currently better quarterback in 2026. Someone like Daniel Jones.
