It makes sense.

The Indianapolis Colts hold the 14th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and it hasn't surprised Colts fans to see Michigan tight end Colston Loveland tied to them in most drafts. The Colts have a strong need at tight end and Loveland would immediately give them a talented player at the position.

Loveland tallied 56 receptions for 582 yards and five touchdowns during his final year in Ann Arbor and Colts fans would love to see him in Indianapolis. Two of the three mock drafts in this piece have Loveland being the Colts' first-round pick with the other one having them addressing the interior offensive line, which is another need.

Colts hit major needs in 2025 NFL mock draft roundup

The Athletic: Colston Loveland, TE (Michigan)

Ben Standig of The Athletic was the first of two recent mock drafts to link the Colts to Loveland. Standig says that no matter who wins the starting quarterback job, they'll need a tight end to throw to. He says that "The 6'6 Loveland puts a tall target on the field, one capable of running receiver routes" and this thought would have Colts fans excited about what the offense could look like in 2025 and beyond.

NBC Sports: Colston Loveland, TE (Michigan)

Connor Rogers of NBC Sports also connected the Colts to Loveland. He shared the same sentiments as Standig did, noting that the Colts will need to have a tight end for whoever is the starter at quarterback.

With tight end being a major need for Indianapolis, it's hard not to like this pick. The Colts would add a talented tight end and hopefully Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones can take advantage of having him at their disposal.

CBS Sports: Tyler Booker, IOL (Alabama)

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports stayed on the offensive side of the ball for the Colts in his mock draft but he had them addressing the offensive line. Tyler Booker was Prisco's pick because, as he noted, the team has a need at right guard and Booker could fill that role.

Given the Colts' need at right guard and how good Booker is, this would be a slam dunk pick for Indy. Prisco is right with his comments that this wouldn't be a sexy pick by any means but if it's an effective one, that's what matters.
