Anthony Richardson is entering his third season in the NFL, and the young quarterback has only played 15 games in his career. After being benched and re-inserted into the starting lineup last season, the Indianapolis Colts decided to sign veteran quarterback Daniel Jones and declare they were having an open quarterback competition. All things considered, everyone assumes the 2025 season will be a make-or-break year for Richardson, who was selected with the fourth-overall pick in the 2023 Draft.

That means the future of his career will largely be impacted by if he wins the starting job or not, and what he does during the season. That could be a lot of pressure for a relatively inexperienced quarterback who’s only 23 years old. However, Richardson doesn’t really see it that way, and he made that clear on Tuesday after practice.

Asked specifically about his relationship with pressure, and if he feels an increased level of pressure with the circumstances ahead of his third season, the quarterback gave an in-depth answer that revealed he doesn’t feel the sense of increased pressure. Richardson touched on how he grew up and the fact that he was a top-five pick to emphasize that the pressure is still the same it’s always been; he just has to prove the franchise made the right decision drafting him.

The young quarterback knows what’s at stake, but he isn’t over complicating things. He knows he just has to work hard and play well, and everything else will figure itself out. So far throughout training camp, that’s exactly what he’s been doing. Richardson has been stacking impressive plays and really good days of practice, and he’s restoring the promise he had as a rookie.

If he continues on the trajectory he’s been on, and stays healthy, it’s no question who the starter in Indianapolis will be. Richardson will be under center, and the Colts will be focused on trying to contend for a title.
