2023 Shrine Bowl West Team players that Colts should be scouting

As stated before, the Patriots coaching staff will be leading the West Team. An emphasis is put on this because of the presence of Bill Belichick. A bigger highlight of the defensive side of the ball is imminent given the accolades on the staff, but that doesn’t mean the offense isn’t insanely good.

Last year, James Houston IV was a huge standout and finished towards the top amongst all rookies in the NFL in sacks. Brevin Allen could be the next All-Star to make a name for himself in the East-West Shrine Bowl. With Yannick Ngakoue entering free agency and his future in Indianapolis unclear, it wouldn’t be a shock if Ballard tries to find Indy some more pass rushers.

  • DL Taron Vincent – Ohio State
  • DL Desjuan Johnson – Toldeo
  • EDGE Titus Leo – Wagner College
  • EDGE Brevin Allen – Campbell University
  • Safety Trey Dean – Florida

Back to the offensive side of the ball, some core players from across the country fill the West team’s All-Star roster. The team’s quarterback to watch is Dorian Thompson-Robinson out of UCLA. DTR has caught the eye of NFL’s Bucky Brooks who named the former Bruin as a standout in EWSB practices.

  • QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson – UCLA
  • OL Ricky Stromberg – Arkansas
  • OL Jaxon Kirkland – Washington
  • WR Demario Douglas – Liberty
  • WR Jadakis Bonds – Hampton
  • WR Zay Flowers – Boston College

This wide receiver class is full of explosive playmakers that the Colts could be looking at as prospects for the offense. Zay Flowers is a potential first-round draft pick and is one of the best receivers to take the field this week at the East-West Shrine Bowl. He’s certainly one of the many names that Indy should be watching in practice and in Thursday’s game.
