Colts could sign Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman

For the first time in a few seasons, Indianapolis’ pass catchers weren’t the biggest issue for the offense, that title belonged to the offensive line. With Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce, a healthy Parris Campbell, and an emerging Jelani Woods, the pass-catching group for the Colts was as encouraging as it has been in recent memory. However, that group is at risk of regressing this offseason.

Campbell, who proved that he has the talent to contribute in this league, will be a free agent this offseason. Campbell has said that he desires to remain in Indy, and the Colts should want to keep him but anything can happen in the offseason. If Campbell does leave, Indy must be ready to replace him immediately. A replacement option could be Mecole Hardman.

Hardman has a similar skillset to Campbell but he has been fortunate enough to have a healthier career thus far and has also been a key contributor for the explosive Kansas City Chiefs. Mecole had more than 500 yards in each of his first three seasons, and as a rookie, he averaged 20.7 yards a reception. That kind of explosiveness is needed in Indy’s dull offense.

If Campbell decides to go elsewhere, Indy should turn its attention to Mecole Hardman. Even if Campbell stays, it won’t hurt the Colts to explore adding Hardman to the mix. Indy’s offense isn’t good enough to turn weapons away.
