There’s no hiding from it. It’s a bleak time to be an Indianapolis Colts fan.

Or in my case, someone who had a lot of bets on the Colts throughout the season.

That doesn’t mean we should give up on them yet. They have a favorable matchup in Week 17 against a team I’m not sure if they’re actually worse than.

Yes, the Giants are a playoff team, but the Colts match up well against them and could at least give the Indianapolis faithful something to cheer for to start 2023.

Let’s dive into the odds for the game and then I’ll give you my Colts vs. Giants best bet and prediction.

Colts vs. Giants odds, spread, and total

Colts vs. Giants betting trends

  • Colts are 3-6 ATS in their last nine games
  • The UNDER is 15-5 in the Colts’ last 20 games
  • Colts are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games against NFC opponents
  • Giants are 4-1 ATS in their last five games
  • Giants are 1-7 straight up in last eight home games vs. Colts
  • The UNDER is 12-1 in the Giants’ last 13 games against AFC opponents
  • Giants are 5-1 ATS in last six games against AFC South opponents

Colts vs. Giants prediction and pick

The Colts can finish the season on a high note with an upset win against the Giants, and then a Week 18 showdown with the Houston Texans in AFC South play.

The main reason I like Indianapolis to cover is because their defense will be the best unit on the field on Sunday. The Colts rank eighth in the NFL in opponent yards per play, leagues above the Giants defense who comes in at 28th.

The Colts have struggled heavily when they face strong pass rushes, but New York’s ranks in the bottom half of the NFL, so whoever starts at QB for Indy in Week 17, will have more time to throw than they have in past weeks.

The Colts will also be able to run the ball effectively against a Giants team that ranks dead last in the NFL in opponent yards per carry, allowing 5.4 yards per rush.

With the spread at 5.5, I think the Colts have enough talent to at least keep this inter-conference matchup close.
