The Indianapolis Colts jumped out to a big lead over the Minnesota Vikings thanks in part to a big play from rookie JoJo Domann.

Since the NFL Draft ended and the Indianapolis Colts signed JoJo Domann as an undrafted free agent, Domann quickly developed into a fan favorite. He immediately became the most likely option of the UDFAs that was expected to make the 53-man roster. When that moment finally happened, Domann shared an incredible throwback picture of him in Colts gear as a child. Now, Domann is making big plays for Indianapolis.

In the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota attempted a punt but it was blocked by Ifeadi Odenigbo and the ball shot into the air and fell right into Domann’s arms. JoJo was able to return it for a touchdown, scoring the first points of Saturday’s game.

Instead of this just being a feel-good moment for the Colts, it was actually the start of a first-half barrage from Indianapolis as Indy tries to upset the Vikings.

Colts shock the Vikings with a big first half

Coming into the game, not many were giving Indianapolis a chance against Minnesota. The Vikings entered as a 10-3 team while the Colts were just 4-8-1. However, it was Indianapolis that looked like the dominant unit in the first half, and Domann wasn’t the only person making big plays, the entire Colts team showed up.

The defense has been absolutely locked in, making several big plays, including a forced fumble by Zaire Franklin, a pivotal fourth down stop, and a huge pick-six by Julian Blackmon. The unit has also sacked Kirk Cousins three times. Indy’s offense even drove down the field for a seven-play, 66-yard drive that ended with a touchdown pass from Matt Ryan to Deon Jackson.

The only bad news from the first half is that Jonathan Taylor went down with an ankle injury and was ruled out of the game. However, Indy still leads at halftime 33-0. Barring a colossal second-half meltdown, Indianapolis should be able to hold on and pull off an upset.
