Parris Campbell is playing his best football right now with the Indianapolis Colts but Bleacher Report says he isn’t off the hook yet.

Entering his fourth season in the NFL, and with the Indianapolis Colts, this was an important season for wide receiver Parris Campbell. Simply put, Campbell entered the season knowing that he was fighting for his NFL career. After the misfortunes in his first three seasons, 2022 has been a make-or-break year for Campbell. Fortunately for Parris, he’s had the opportunity to respond and he’s been proving himself.

Playing in all 11 games for the Colts, the most games he’s played in a single season by far, Campbell has been Indy’s second-best receiver statistically. He has 44 receptions for 440 yards, both second on the team only to Michael Pittman Jr. However, Campbell’s three receiving touchdowns are tied for the team’s lead. This is exactly the type of season he needed to have.

While things have been going great for Campbell, Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report argued that Parris isn’t off the hook just yet. In a recent article looking at 2023 free agents that need to nail late-season auditions, Ballentine named Campbell as one of those players.

Parris Campbell is still auditioning for his future with Colts

Citing the fact that Campbell only played 15 total games through his first three seasons, if Parris had another underwhelming season this year, there was no way Indianapolis would re-sign him. Now that he’s made it this deep into the season, and is being productive, every catch is essentially negotiations for his next contract that will be decided this summer.

With how well he’s been playing, especially as of late, the Colts likely will try to retain him. After struggling to have a competent wide receiver group for years, Indianapolis isn’t going to let Campbell get out of town the second he starts putting it together. It’s looking like he’s already earned himself another season in the blue and white.

However, as Ballentine stated, Campbell can’t let up and must continue proving himself over the next six games. With his history, it won’t take much for people to lose hope in him. Parris Campbell must keep proving he’s a threat in this league.
