The Indianapolis Colts will host the Washington Commanders for a  Week 8 matchup. Here are the odds and a prediction for the game.

When the NFL schedule was released, Week 8 was one of the circled games for the Indianapolis Colts. Hosting the Washington Commanders, this game was supposed to be Carson Wentz’s return to Lucas Oil Stadium as he takes on his former team and the quarterback that replaced him, Matt Ryan. However, Wentz will be sidelined with a fractured finger and Ryan will be on the sideline after Indy benched him for Sam Ehlinger.

Now, the storyline is Ehlinger’s first career start. He’ll be tasked with helping the 3-3-1 Colts rebound after losing in Week 7 to the Tennessee Titans. Washington enters the game at 3-4 after pulling off a shocking upset over the Green Bay Packers. This is a game that will have all of the NFL world’s eyes on it for the much-anticipated quarterback matchup between Sam Ehlinger and Taylor Heinicke.

Colts vs. Commanders prediction Week 8

Both teams have some dynamic offensive weapons but overall struggling offenses. The difference is that Indianapolis has a better defense and Indy’s defense has kept it in almost every game and even won a couple. On Sunday, the defense will likely win another game for the Colts.

Sam Ehlinger may not be asked to do much but he should get his first career win thanks to another great performance from guys like Grover Stewart, Stephon Gilmore, and the entire defense.

Colts 14, Commanders 7
