With the Indianapolis Colts off to an underwhelming start, Bleacher Report names which player has been the biggest disappointment.

The season hasn’t started the way the Indianapolis Colts hoped it would. Losing two divisional matchups and having a tie in another, the Colts aren’t looking like the best team in the AFC South that many thought they would be. When things go wrong, somebody has to be responsible, so who’s to blame?

Alex Ballentine from Bleacher Report didn’t necessarily hand out blame, but in a recent article, Ballentine did name the biggest disappointment for every team so far this season. For Indianapolis, Ballentine argued that running back Jonathan Taylor has been Indy’s biggest disappointment.

Coming off a breakout season where Taylor established himself as arguably the best running back in the NFL, Ballentine makes the case that Taylor’s inability to generate consistent production makes him the biggest disappointment for the Colts so far. While Taylor definitely hasn’t been meeting expectations, he’s not Indy’s biggest disappointment, the offensive line is.

The offensive line is the biggest disappointment for the Colts

Much of the reason Jonathan Taylor hasn’t been able to get going is the offensive line, along with the tight ends and receivers, hasn’t given him much space. Looking at Indy’s film, Taylor can be seen gaining two to three yards on plays that he should be tackled in the backfield. He’s trying his best to make something out of nothing. Aside from the costly fumble against the Tennessee Titans, Taylor hasn’t had many disappointing moments.

Sure, Taylor entered the year with higher expectations than the offensive line but all of the concern for the offensive line was about pass protection. Everyone expected them to be able to run block as they did in the past but that hasn’t been the case so far. That’s one of the biggest reasons why the Colts’ offense is the worst-scoring offense in the league.

So while Jonathan Taylor is having an extremely underwhelming season based on his expectations, the offensive line is the main reason why and they have been the biggest disappointment for the Colts. Indy won’t be able to turn things around until the offensive line does.
